Or so the film should have been called. That's what I kept thinking Friday night when I caught The Dark Knight at the drive-in. Christain Bale does an adaquite job as Batman even though I get tired of his attempt to mask his voice with that low hiss. Batman should sound bold and athoratative, not like he need a Ricola. But I digress.
Heath Ledger did such an amazing job with The Joker that for a time I forgot that it was Heath in the first place. I found myself more cought up in The Joker then in Batman and I have to admit, and I'm probably in trouble for this, I found myself saying "Jack who?" For a long time I thought Jack Nicholson was the definitive Joker and that no one could possibly best him. I was wrong. Boy was I wrong. Heath brought the Joker to life which I think is the difference between Jack's Joker and his. Jack's joker stayed on the comic page while Heath's Joker was brought into the real world.
Another thought I had while watching the film, was Brandon Lee. I don't know if it was the make-up or what but I kept thinking how tragic it was that both he and Ledger gave the best performance of their lives right befor they died. Of course this is arguable but I will always remember Brandon as The Crow and Heath as The Joker.

I thought this looked pretty cool and even though I have always thought they could have cast Batman better, Bale looks like he can pull this off. Check out the site and the trailer.
Day The Earth Stood Still Remake.

I have always been a huge, huge fan of those old black and white sci-fi films such as The Day The Earth Stood Still, This Island Earth, Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers, ect..... I could go on and on. I have never been able to put my finger on what makes them legends that continue to be great films even today in the age of mega-CGI, but what I do know is that every time they get that wild hair to remake one of these films, they always strip that quality out of it and manage to leave me pretty disapponted and wanting. Having said that, I'm a geek, a Keanu Reeves fan, and a sci-fi fan which is a tide to strong to fight against. Of course I'm going to see the movie but I'm going to have my guard up. Release Date: December 12, 2008
If you havn't seen the trailer. Here you go:

The new sketchbook from Golden features an array of pencils, preliminaries and finished compositions, serving as a must have package for collectors of his trendsetting heroic pieces, while also sneaking in some of his favorite machinery-heavy works, army characters, action shots, and yes, of course, a few villains to boot. He'll be located at NFR, booth #4601, where he'll also be signing the NFR Group Portfolio!
Golden will be on the TwoMorrows panel Thursday, and will be signing at the Vanguard booth on Thursday from 10-11 and on Sunday from 1-2. Check your SDCC schedule, or the Vanguard Booth for times and details.Golden will be signing the second printing of the sold-out "Excess: The Art of Michael Golden" for Vanguard.
Mark Texeira will be at booth #1423, where he will be offering those three new prints, as well as accepting commissions to be done at the show. All leading up to the upcoming debut of his art book, "Tex: The Art of Mark Texeira" coming out later this year from Vanguard Productions.
At both booths--#4601 and #1423, you will find representatives from the Creator Chronicles DVD series, who are doing video retrospectives on both of the creators. Check with either Robin Dale of Woodcrest or Eva Ink's Renee Witterstaetter for information on all these projects and more.
San Diego, CA -- It's just been announced that award-winning creator and cover artist Arthur Suydam will be making a West Coast appearance at this year's San Diego Comic Con, AND he'll also be offering a limited edition sketchbook at the show as well!
The new sketchbook, entitled "Mostly Zombies," features an array of Suydam pencils, preliminaries and finished compositions, serving as a must have package for collectors of his eye-popping horror pieces, while sneaking in a healthy bite of his other stellar work as well.
A master illustrator and haunting storyteller, Suydam is routinely cited for his unique style of blending classical painting with the art of comics. In addition to his creator-owned work, Arthur's run on the wildly popular "Marvel Zombies" series unarguably set comic book collecting on fire--spawning a slew of reprints, retrospective hardcovers, T-shirts, statues and toys! In juxtaposition to his zombie work, his recent gorgeous "Red Sonja" covers for Dynamic Forces, clearly showcases his riveting and romantic classical flair.
It's no wonder that within recent years, Arthur has been honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards from both the University of Maryland and the San Sebastian Film Festival, as well as receiving Guest of Honor nods from numerous conventions, including the legendary Dragon Con. Other recent accolades include the Spike TV Award for Best Comic, and the Gold Award for Artistic Excellence from Spectrum Magazine.
So get in on the excitement! The new sketchbook, "Mostly Zombies," will be signed by the popular creator while supplies last. And, Arthur will also be available all days of the SDCC, accepting a limited number of commissions. The sketchbook is priced at only $20.00!
For more information, visit Suydam all days of the San Diego Comic Con at the "Arthur Suydam Art" booth located at #4301.
